A good news for Android users. Now you can get the awesome Gingerbread keyboard on your Android 2.1 and 2.2 devices. hotaro from xda-forums has successfully extracted the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) keyboard as an .apk file. You can easily install it on your Android device, no root is required.

Just download (link given below) the .apk file according to the Android version you are running and copy it to your SD card or directly download it using Android browser. Tap the file to install the keyboard. Now you will be able to select the Gingerbread Keyboard from Select input method settings.
